The Poetic Object;

no/thing & even
the self, which is every
thing / unfolded gathers
& contains
the blessed moment,
complimentary colors,
the beetle & the worm (ribs
breath belly limbs)

the self is nothing / held
as it is between canyons a gulf
cradling water more bubble
than membrane, more steel (planet
star neither both)

the self is every / thing a prayer
before dinner a stage
between ocean & pool
a dancer whose skin ripples
still beneath rayon folds, a blaze

not cortex but corpus
callosum, a bridge
an archway a door a blossom
torn between damp fingers
& crushed, & yellowed
a stippling, a wren

without performance or pattern
color or stem or seed or moss
or mass or sand, no

the self is no / thing & even
the most poetic of objects
must go
