The Poetic Object;
exploring the psychology of self, spreading the word about the discipline of narrative medicine, & more

the self is everything
/ unfolded it gathers & contains
the blessed moment, complimentary
colors, the beetle & worm (ribs
& breath & belly & limbs)

the self is nothing / held
as it is between canyons a gulf
cradling water more bubble
than membrane, more steel (planet
or star or neither or both)

the self is every / thing a prayer
before dinner a stage
between ocean & the pool
of dancers whose skin
glistens still beneath rayon, denim

overalls, not cortex
but corpus callosum, a bridge
an archway a door a blossom
torn between hot fingers
a stippling, a wren

borders dissolving, places
without performance or pattern
color or stem or seed or moss
or mass or sand, no

the self is no / thing & even
the most poetic of objects
must go
